The kind of person who notices an empty coffee pot and starts another one. Who sees a customer at the counter and jumps in. Who works hard because they take pride in doing things well — not because someone's watching.

At The Texan, we believe work should be something you can be proud of. We work hard. We laugh a lot. We play the music a little too loud sometimes. We celebrate the wins, help each other when it gets hectic, and treat customers like guests in our home.

Some days you'll be pulling espresso shots. Some days you'll be serving brisket at a catering event. Some days you'll be doing both before lunch. No two days are the same — and that's exactly why we love it.

​

This is a real job, not a side gig. This is a job with a lot of range, and whoever takes it will be one of a handful of people who actually run this place with us. We're a small family-owned business, so there's no layer of management between you and the owners. If you have a better idea, we'll hear it that day.

What you'll do

• Craft drinks people come back for

• Prep food, bake, and help keep a busy kitchen running

• Work local festivals and events with The Texan Express

• Take care of customers — from the cheerful regulars to the folks who haven't had their first cup yet

• Help create memorable catering events, from prep to teardown

• Help us sell this place (see below)

About that last one — marketing...not the way that word usually sounds. We're small, so selling this place is something all of us carry. For one person that's taking a good photo of what just came out of the oven. For another it's working a booth at an event and being the reason somebody remembers us. For one it's using their creativity for social media posts. Nobody's running a campaign. But everybody carries a piece of it, and how you carry it is up to you.

We're probably a good fit if you

• Have a great attitude and a solid work ethic

• Like staying busy more than standing around

• Can laugh at yourself and take a joke

• Show up on time, because your team is counting on you

• See what needs to be done and just… do it

• Have barista or kitchen experience — or you're eager to learn fast, food safety included

• Have cake or cookie decorating experience (not required, but we'd love it)

Hours Full-time or part-time. We'd rather build the schedule around the right people than force the right people into a schedule. If you're the 6am opener, or you need hours that end mid-afternoon, tell us — we can work with that.

Fair warning This isn't a "hide in the back and scroll your phone" kind of job. It's the kind where the shift flies by, everyone pitches in, customers know your name, and you head home tired because you actually accomplished something. You'll probably smell like espresso. Or smoked bacon. Sometimes both. You'll definitely have stories.
